Stand for Election...

A series of case studies from previous sabbatical officers, demonstrating the success that can be achieved from a years experience in office.

"Spending the year as Communications officer gave me a brilliant insight into the media and also into a not for profit organisation. Being a sabbatical officer is a challenging but rewarding experience, expect little sleep, lots of long days and loads of great people to work with.

I was running the student newspaper, radio station, website and getting involved in Union campaigns. It was also the 60th birthday of the Students' Union during my year and we had a great celebration, bringing back sabbatical officers and staff members from years gone by.

You should stand for election because you will only get one chance to do it. If you think you can make a difference during that year, go for it.

The experience I got in that year has helped me carve out a career in journalism, and being able to show the level of responsibility you hold during that sabbatical year at such a young age to employers is always a winner".
