Recognition
One way to ensure we meet high standards is to compete for awards or apply for recognition. This motivates us to continually improve our services and test ourselves against other unions or organisations.
We have committed to achieving the Students’ Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEi) award. The SUEi award is supported by Nus and Government and is the mark of a ‘good students union’. We will be assessed in March 2012.
We hold the Investors in People Award which recognises our commitment to good practice in the development of our employees.
We have achieved recognition for our volunteered based activities and hold the Investors in Volunteers recognition obtained in 2011.
In 2008 we achieved a Gold Level Sound Impact Award (Green Impact) from NUS in recognition of our positive environmental practices from NUS and have retained this award at silver level since then.
In 2006 53 Degrees received the BEDA Students’ Union Venue of the Year Award and has twice received the UK Live Award for Best Campus Venue Team.
Each year since 2005 both Source and 53 Degrees have regularly received recognition for our good practice in the management of licensed premises from NUS and the Lancashire Police in the ‘Best Bar None’ scheme.
Each year we also publish an annual report that sets out our progress in the previous twelve months.
