Not For Profit
The Union is here to make life better for students. That’s our mission and because we want every UCLan student to have a great experience at university every penny we make gets ploughed back into Union services to achieve this aim. We don’t have shareholders to take out profits and the Union is like many charities, building societies and membership organisations a ‘not for profit’ organisation. This means all our funds go ‘back to you’.
All the surplus we generate from our shops, café and bars along with grants we receive is spent running the Union for the members including a free Advice Centre, representation, clubs and societies and Give it a Go, supporting course reps, the Bridge and your own newspaper, radio and TV stations.
In the last 18 months we were able to refurbish the Atrium, develop a resource centre for Course Reps, invest in roles to support representation, make improvements to 53 Degrees and fund the re-launching of the Union’s website. All our funds go ‘back to you’.
We also report annually on how we have used the Unions’ funds for the benefit of members and you will shortly be able download a copy of the 2010/11 Financial Statements which are independently audited.
